What if you got together some of the most expensive Macs ever released and tested all of then?
Check out this video, just dropped a few days ago on YouTube where they reviewed 3 different Apple Mac Studios. They went with both un-binned (full versions) of the Mac Studios (see below).

Brief Highlights
Not surprisingly the M4 Max ($2,699 configuration) SOC was the fastest with a single core score of 4,074. The M3 Ultra ($5,499) was a bit slower by almost 26% at 3,238. Remember single core is what many apps still use. And you’re paying over 2x to have a slower speed.

Now onto the multi core scores, this is where the M3 Ultra pulls away slightly at 27,805 but the M4 Max is pretty darn close at 26,247 for half the price.
Spoiler alert, they’re disappointed Apple didn’t release an M4 Ultra.(Apple’s decision not to release an M4 Ultra chip appears to stem from both technical and strategic considerations. Unlike previous Ultra chips, which combined two Max chips using UltraFusion technology, the M4 Max lacks the necessary UltraFusion connector, making it impossible to create an M4 Ultra through the same method . Developing a new Ultra chip from scratch would involve significant production challenges and costs, particularly given the relatively small market for high-end desktop Macs like the Mac Studio . Apple has also indicated that not every generation of its M-series chips will include an Ultra variant, suggesting a shift in its product strategy.)
Remember, these are only synthetic benchmarks so watch the full video above to get some real world tests with Figma, Lightroom, Final Cut and other apps.
